Systems Transformation Pathway
Over 60 years ago, our College ignited bold innovations, founding the UWC movement, co-creating the IB Diploma and inventing the RIB. Today, we are pioneering once again.
In 2023, we pioneered a new and transformative systems driven curriculum based around global challenges. It has become hugely successful, endorsed as the "blueprint for the future of education" by a report from Cambridge University and quoted as “the most significant milestone in IB innovation in decades” by the International Baccalaureate.
Now, we need £700,000 in seed funding to expand this transformative programme to schools and educators worldwide.

Innovative curriculum
The Systems Transformation Pathway (STP) co-pioneered with the IB is a new and transformative curriculum that allows students to earn the full IB Diploma while tackling climate change, biodiversity loss, energy transition, mass migration and the scarcity of water.
Our first two cohorts of graduates have been accepted into universities around the world including Cambridge, LSE, UCL, Brown, Princeton, Stanford and Hong Kong University.
The STP has shown amazing results. The University of Cambridge have been embedded in the STP to research its impact and their report endorses the STP as the "blueprint for the future of education." Finally, the IB who began this pilot with us in 2023, have announced plans to roll out the STP across all IB schools by 2028 and calls this “the most significant milestone in IB innovation in decades.”
Introducing the Centre for Systems Transformation, Leadership and Education (C4STLE)
C4STLE will be the next phase for the Systems Transformation Pathway. It will be a global institute that:
- Trains educators globally to deliver the STP curriculum with expertise and confidence.
- Advances open-access systems education resources, freely available to teachers worldwide.
- Supports research and continuous improvement, ensuring the curriculum stays world-leading.
- Provides youth learning experiences, including summer programmes and short courses.
- Create a sustainable revenue stream through professional learning and teacher education.
Crucially, C4STLE will enable UWC Atlantic to maintain its leadership and uniqueness as systems education scales globally and we require £700,000 in seed funding to help us develop the Centre. C4STLE is ready to be built. We hope to build it with you.
