Our Associated Schools Programme brings together the college’s diverse international student body with socio and ethnically diverse students from across the UK. The programme encourages youth leadership, global understanding and broadening horizons through conferences, workshops, and student-led initiatives.
We believe building networks of educational entities throughout the UK, and indeed the world, can act as a powerful force to raise aspirations and make meaningful impact within our communities.
The programme is currently delivered in partnership with four UK comprehensive schools: The Northern Schools Trust - Liverpool (comprising of the Liverpool Life Sciences UTC, The Studio & the North Liverpool Academy); Broadway Academy – Birmingham; Lewis School Pengam and Afon Tâf schools in south Wales. These schools reflect and represent the diversity of UK communities, with contrasting socio-economic, religious and ethnic profiles.
ASP offers a biennial scholarship to a student from each of these schools to attend UWC Atlantic - widening their access to educational opportunities and routes to higher education. These scholars also form a bridge between the college and schools. We have seen 18 scholars completing or are part way through their International Baccalaureate studies since the programme began. Students from these schools also attend our annual student-led conferences and have access to our Global Leadership Experience summer programme.
To date, ASP has seen a marked shift among student groups - growing confidence, maturity, and aspirations, leadership skills, and a broadened global, political and sociological perspective and awareness.
Our ambition is to collaborate with more schools to create networks of inspired and enabled youth across the UK.
