UWC Atlantic is the founding College of the United World Colleges global education movement. Its home is the beautiful 12th Century St Donat's Castle in South Wales, where students from over 90 countries come for two years to live and work together in a dynamic learning landscape.

UWC is a deliberately diverse, mission-driven international college with a strong commitment to the educational principles of Kurt Hahn, its founder, and a passionate belief in the importance of education as a force for good in the world - to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future.

Since 1962, UWC has entrusted students with authentic responsibility and guided them to make appropriate choices and to learn from their mistakes. It is through this trust, responsibility and accountability that students learn that they can make a difference (‘You are needed’) and that through effort and engagement they can achieve far more than they ever imagined (‘There is more in you than you think’).

UWC empowers bridge-builders, systems changers and compassionate global citizens through the delivery of a pioneering and distinctive IB (International Baccalaureate) educational model.

UWC’s student body is hugely diverse (from around 90 countries every year) based on its ability to reach out across the globe to attract and encourage new students from vastly differing political, religious, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.  These inspirational young people, the next generation of leaders, are drawn from among the most marginalised groups of today’s world and the most privileged.  Students are selected on their promise and potential to create impact in the fields of sustainability, social justice and peace.   The College offers one of the most comprehensive scholarship programmes available at pre-University level, with 50% of students receiving financial support.

Full time Salary: £28,190 - £32,723 (& 1/3rd Night Allowance)

Pro Rata (28.31 hours per week): £22,800 - £26,466 (& 1/3rd Night Allowance)

A critical component of our Facilities Management Department, the Welcome Team provides a 24/7/365 service, acting as the first point of contact primarily for our students though also for other campus users, ensuring that they feel and are safe and secure during their time on campus.  The team also provides an excellent and consistent experience and approach that meets the needs of the wide variety of students and visitors we receive to the college.

We are looking to recruit a Welcome Team Leader for our night shift, an exciting new role within the college.  As Team Leader, you will be responsible for 7 permanent staff members alongside a bank of casual staff who are utilised to cover annual leave and other absences, with shift times being 10pm - 6am.

You will be responsible for mentoring and guiding our Welcome Team Operatives (Nights) to provide pastoral and wellbeing support for our students during the academic year, as well as monitoring the safety of our campus between 10pm and 6am daily.

Outside of term time, the college welcomes residential visitors and event attendees providing you with the opportunity to encourage and support your team to continue to provide the best care and support to those attendees.

The role requires some amount of flexibility, as there will be occasions where you are required to attend meetings and training during the daytime (usually 9am-5pm)

You will ideally have experience of working in a student, pastoral or customer facing environment, with an optimistic outlook, excellent delegation and interpersonal skills enabling you to communicate effectively at all levels.  Your ability to work collaboratively, efficiently and well under pressure will enable you to support your Team Members to consistently achieve the best standard of care throughout each shift.
