Additional Learning Needs Co-ordinator (ALNCo)
Passionate about inclusive learning, Emma coordinates the provision for students with Additional Learning Needs (ALN).
From her teaching experience in the Special Educational Needs and Disability sector, Emma learnt that a purposeful education is far from the ‘one size fits all’ approach. Instead she believes that through personalised learning, education can become the experiential opportunity young people need in order to flourish and succeed.
Emma graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and went on to complete her PGCE with QTS. Qualified in Animal Assisted Therapy and an International Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination, Emma values the importance of nurture in education and applies this to her multiple roles at UWC Atlantic. Emma is the Additional Learning Needs Coordinator, Pastoral Tutor and House Mentor for the student house, ‘Antonin Besse’. As part of her mission to promote inclusion throughout campus, Emma also leads a Creative session for students learning British Sign Language.
